Our Roles at OASIS

OASIS provide support to people living in Lambeth, Southwark, Lewisham and Croydon.

Keyworker

My Keyworker from OASIS has supported me for 2 years with amazing encouragement and motivation. I don't know where I'd be without her reminding me that I could reach every single one of my goals. I am very thankful for all she's done – OASIS service user

Each OASIS Team has a Keyworker. This person is a registered mental health professional: either a Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist.

Keyworkers:

• Are the main point of contact throughout a person's journey with OASIS
• Provide emotional support to clients and their loved ones
• Help with practical things like housing, liaising with work or university, support with benefits, or taking up new opportunities

Keyworkers are kind, friendly, and take the time to build trusting and meaningful relationships. They are passionate and motivated to make sure your experience at OASIS is a positive one.

Psychologist

Clinical Psychologists are trained to help people understand their difficulties and develop strategies to overcome them. They are qualified to offer various types of talking therapy, most commonly Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT). Therapy often begins with getting an idea of what a person would like to change in their lives, recognising what the obstacles are, and then learning new skills to move in a positive direction.

Everyone at OASIS is offered individual therapy, and Psychologists also work with families and carers.

Team Leader

The Team Leader provides managerial support for all staff, and supervision for the OASIS Keyworkers. The Team Leader is ultimately responsible for ensuring that the team runs smoothly, safely and effectively. They also provide clinical leadership and are directly involved in multidisciplinary team decision making.

Doctor

The Doctor at OASIS is a Psychiatrist – a medical doctor who has specialised in mental health. You will see the Psychiatrist soon after you join the service. Doctors are able to prescribe medication if you feel this would help, and they will discuss different treatment options with you.

My doctor at OASIS gave me a choice. I took the doctor’s advice and started anti-depressant medication, which I felt I could choose from a few with guidance. I wanted my mental health to be settled so I can progress to where I want to be – OASIS service user
